Here's a snippet of the new Bird-o post!
“Well, if you go that way, through St Quentin, you’ll be into French speaking country,” said the friendly New Brunswick woman in the grocery store parking lot in Perth-Andover. “You’ll be alright if you know your French, but if you don’t, well, good luck to you!”
She paused, “Do you know your French?”
“Er… not really, no,” replied Nigel.
“Good luck to you!” She exclaimed, and sauntered into the store.
We eyeballed our map. Counting the little numbers along side the road lines, it worked out to be a 200 km detour and, apparently, entirely French. But, it would be our only remaining chance for the Bicknell’s Thrush, an elusive and vulnerable species that has a particular liking for highlands, and is particularly difficult to track down... read more here
