Time Goes Swiftly By...

I cannot believe that it is already half way through March. I sound old in saying this (I'm not), but time just seems to go faster and faster.

There is still much to organise for the trip... media contacts to plan, press releases to write, warmshowers.com hosts to contact, a PowerPoint presentation to create... the list goes on!

Our "Nylon Hilton" as my mother is calling it has arrived at their home in Sechelt, BC. It is a new Hubba Hubba by MSR and we are very excited about it. Our currant tent is just too heavy and not sturdy enough for this adventure, especially as we will be camping most of the time, so we lashed out for a new one. It will make a very nice home indeed!!!!

There has been a few pieces of gear we've needed to purchase. Bicycles (and YES they are beautiful!), panniers and a tent are the main things. We figure we can suffer through the elements with the majority of gear we already have.... who knows, maybe some awesome outdoors company will want to sponsor us with quality gear!! (We have asked :) ) But for now, we will penny pinch wherever we can.

For panniers we have ordered Ortlieb Front and Back Roller Plus. We ordered the "plus" because they don't contain PVC. Polyvinyl Chloride is bad bad bad news. Both for the environment and for the health of manufacturers and consumers alike. Unfortunately it's also in A LOT of things... But not our panniers!!

It should be re-stated that donations through this website are NOT being used to fund this trip. We feel this is very important for people to understand. Any and all funds donated will be 100% for the Ancient Forest Alliance.
